Competition Rules

By participating in a CWC contest you agree to the following rules:

  1. All submissions remain the intellectual property of their owners.
  2. Your story must not be named or be similar in any respect to the CWC Novel it will feature in. Any similarities in Characters or plot will be instantly diqualified.
  3. Your submission must follow the same genre as the CWC Novel it will feature in.
  4. Plagiarism means instant disqualification. Do not submit someone else's work.
  5. Submissions deemed too obscene or pornographic in nature will not be considered. That does not mean harsh language or sexuality can not be used in your submission; it means that excessive use that distracts from the integrity of the story will disqualify you.
  6. Submissions should be no longer 3,500 words. There is some lee-way in this. If it goes a little over it will not disqualify you. We want you to submit your best work, and appreciate small variations.
  7. You agree to have your piece edited by CWC and formatted for print. However all submissions should be submitted as per our submission guidelines.
  8. Please refer to our Submission Guidelines before submitting your work.
  9. Please put your name as you wish it to appear in print, age and location in the body of your email.
  10. Submissions must be made to this email address with the title of your story in the Subject Line.
  11. You will not hold CWC liable for any damages or loss resulting from your participation in the contest. Always remember to back-up your work on a separate flash drive or other back-up device prior to submitting.
  12. You grant permission, by submitting your work, to allow CWC to publish your material in print, on our website, and other media in any manner we choose.
  13. For contest dates, please refer to each subsequent competition.
  14. In the event that there are no suitable submissions, CWC reserves the right to withhold inclusion of a story in a CWC novel.

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions sent in after the deadline will not be accepted, and the submission fee cannot be refunded. We will however keep your submission for a future competition of that genre.

  • If you choose to withdraw your submitted story before we have selected a winner, you may do so but will not be entitled to a refund.
  • Your submission should fall within 2500 - 3500 words. The integrity of your story is more important than a strict word count. Any submissions that are too short or way too long, will be disqualified.
  • If your work is disqualified, you are not entitled to a refund.
  • Work can be submitted in the body of an email, as a .doc or a pdf. If your submission is chosen, you must be able to send the document in a format that can be edited and prepared for publication.
  • Your work should be submitted in size 12, Times New Roman, single line spacing, with paragraph indents.
  • Your submission must have a designated title, which should be used in the subject line of your email.
  • We are not obliged to give you a critique of your piece, or a reason why your work was not selected. However we may feel inclined to do so in some cases.
